What was the most important lesson you learnt this year? - ThinkGrowProsper
Whatever abundance means to you, I hope you experience a lot of it in 2019.
Constant reminder as I go through life: Life is mostly a mental game. Simply being aware of this fact gives you a huge advantage.
Call them whatever you want — obstacles, challenges, setbacks, etc. Problems hold the key to everything you want in life.
When you work toward solving your specific problems, you learn the lessons and develop the skills that are most important for your personal journey. Just as a movie or book without conflict is boring, so too is a life without problems.
You are the protagonist of your life. Go solve some problems and see how interesting and meaningful your life becomes.
The path to finding meaningful work is not necessarily logical or linear. You can’t think your way to your “passion.” It’s too abstract of a concept to figure out rationally. The way you find meaningful work is through action: Get in the habit of recognizing and acting upon the small things that you feel drawn to or excited about — even if they seem insignificant or disconnected from your larger goals. It could be something as simple as going for a walk, painting a picture, learning something you’re curious about, etc. When done consistently, intentionally and honestly, these small things will often lead you to the bigger, more meaningful things that you might define as your passion or purpose.
What exactly is bothering you? Why do you believe it‘s a problem? Once you pinpoint the real issue, you can decide to either solve it, accept it, or ignore it. Dealing with one or two clearly defined obstacles is less stressful than having dozens of vague anxieties lurking in the dark corners of your mind. Known monsters are less scary than unknown monsters.
This idea is from a note I wrote to myself in my phone a while back. I’m currently organizing and synthesizing all the notes and reminders I’ve written to myself over the years into a coherent life philosophy — my “personal commandments” if you will. I highly recommend doing this for yourself. It has been an eye opening and extremely useful exercise for me so far...for a variety of reasons. I’m excited to share more with you...
You know who they are: The people who make you better. The people who see the greatness in you. The people who want to see you succeed. The people who are inspired, excited and grateful. Remember: You are the average of the people you spend the most time with.
An important reminder, especially for the artists and creators who pour their heart and souls into their work and share it on social media. It’s easy to get caught up in the numbers and stats but forget to realize the actual, real human lives you touch just by being you. —Ruben
So much of our happiness and success depends on how we choose to look at the world...
Cultivating empowering beliefs and mindsets puts you in a position to win mentally, emotionally, and practically.
But don’t get it twisted. This does NOT mean you can simply say to yourself, "My situation is an opportunity to grow" and everything will magically change. That's called wishful thinking.
There's a difference between wishful thinking and a genuine belief. Empowering beliefs lead to positive ACTION, not just intellectual agreement. This is where most people get stuck or confused.
Cheers to your success,

Note to self: Don’t overcomplicate the process
Grateful for where I'm at, excited about where I'm going...
You've probably heard the phrase: "Fake it ‘til you make it.” I agree, but with a caveat: Don’t fake the superficial stuff. Fake the meaningful stuff.
Don’t fake the money.
Don’t fake the accomplishments.
Don’t fake the ego.
Fake the consistency.
Fake the work ethic.
Fake the action.
For many things in life, pretending is just as good as the real thing. In fact, for some things the difference is indistinguishable.
Courage is a good example of this...
As you go through life, you sometimes accumulate beliefs, mental programs, and psychic baggage that do not belong to you. They may have been passed down to you through someone else, intentionally or unintentionally. Or, maybe you made a false assumption that turned into a limiting story about yourself or the world.
It’s important to cultivate stories about yourself and the world that empower you to be who you want to be and do what you want to do. Any subjective belief that holds you back from doing that needs to be looked at critically.
Take inventory of your beliefs and the mental patterns you follow without even thinking. Do they belong to you? Or is it time to let go of what isn't yours?
Focus on what you can control. Trust the timing of your life. Don’t worry about the rest.
This isn't about being naive or pretending that negative things don't happen. It's about being aware that negative things happen but still having the courage to carry on in spite of them. Don't ever become so jaded with the world that you forget to notice all the good in it.
You're never going to be 100% ready and it's never going to be just the right time, but that's the point. It means that every moment is also the right moment. If you want it, you just have to do it. Stop overthinking and just do something. The timing will never be perfect. Act now and correct course along the way.
This drawing perfectly encapsulates what life is all about for me. I asked the artist who drew this image what she thought her superpower was. Her answer: “Turning her tough times into stories that make people feel less alone.”
Over the years, I’ve developed and refined a daily self-care checklist/routine that has improved the quality of my life tremendously.
